Wayne Cooper, Managing Partner
Wayne is Chairman of IOFM and Chief Executive Group as well as a member of the board of directors of Bongarde Media. He was also the Chairman of Pyramid Research, a company Greenhaven acquired from the Economist Intelligence Unit in 2001, turned around and sold to United Business Media in September 2008 for a 10x increase in equity value.
He served as CEO of Kennedy Information from 1996 through 2003; as CEO, he grew the company by over 650% during his tenure and orchestrated the sale of the company to The Bureau of National Affairs for a 30x increase in shareholder value.
He was also the Chairman and CEO of Vizium, a marketing services company founded by Greenhaven's partners and sold to Carat Worldwide. Prior to Greenhaven, Wayne was a consultant with Bain & Company and Monitor Company in Boston, London, Milan and California (working with leading corporations to improve their strategies and business performance) and managed Monitor's L.A. office and expansion to Korea. Before that he worked at Goldman Sachs and The World Bank.
He has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Stanford University. Wayne is the past Chairman and President of the Specialty Information Publishers Association (SIPA). He also serves on the boards of several civic non-profit organizations, and is an active member of Young President's Organization, AIPAC and various organizations that promote tolerance education throughout the world.
Marshall Cooper, Managing Partner
Marshall Cooper is CEO of Chief Executive Group, Chairman of Bongarde and board member at IOFM. He previously served as President of Kennedy Information, which he helped grow 650% in five years before its sale.
Prior to Greenhaven, Marshall did merger and acquisition and strategy work for K-III Communications (now Primedia) and The New York Times Company. He also served from 1989 to 1991 as editor of President Bush's primary briefing, The Daily White House News Summary. He also worked for the Department of State at the American Embassy in Helsinki.
Marshall holds a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College, where he founded the school newspaper and established the Tuck Times Scholarship. Marshall serves on the National Board of Directors of AIPAC and several local, civic non-profits.
Giles Goodhead, Consulting Partner
Giles serves as a member of the board of Bongarde. Previously he was CEO of LA411/Media Publishing International, a Greenhaven company which provided directory services to the entertainment industry, and which Greenhaven sold to Reed Business Information in 2000. He also served on the Boards of Directors of Pyramid Research and TGI through their build-ups and sales. Prior to Greenhaven he was a strategy consultant at Monitor Company in Los Angeles with clients in telecoms, media, aerospace and chemicals.
Mr. Goodhead holds an MBA from Stanford University and a double-first in Economics from Cambridge University, England. He is the author of Us v Them, a book describing the tribal rivalries of soccer matches around the world, published by Viking Penguin in 2003. He is a member of the Ambassador group for ActionAid, a UK-based NGO working on poverty programs internationally.
R.D. Whitney, Partner
R.D. Whitney is Chief Operating Officer of the Institute of Finance and Management (IOFM), and he is responsible for helping Greenhaven Partners businesses execute on their plans.
Prior to joining Greenhaven, R.D. was CEO of the online media division of the Tarsus Group, PLC, the London-based B2B conference and event producer (Ticker: TRS.L). He previously served as COO of Kennedy Information and was instrumental in helping that business achieve exceptional growth. RD has held positions at Kluwer Law International (a division of Wolters Kluwer), the Thompson Publishing Group, Yankee Publishing, Vicon Publishing and Connell Communications (a division of IDG).
R.D. holds an MBA from Fitchburg State College and a BS from Bentley University.
Rob Ransom, Partner / Portfolio Company President
Robert Ransom is CEO and President of Bongarde Media, which he is transforming from a traditional print publisher into an integrated media, learning and software business.
Rob previously served as Vice President for AdReady and HouseValues Inc., which he helped grow dramatically. He also served as a Business Analyst and Engagement Manager at McKinsey.
Rob earned an MBA from Stanford University and a BA from Princeton in International Relations.
David Beck, Vice President
David Beck is responsible for business development for Greenhaven companies and is tasked with launching new business lines across media.
David has held numerous senior-level positions at Thomson Corp. including vice president and publisher of its healthcare information center, and publisher and editorial director of human resources, banking and finance products. He also held executive positions at the Research Institute of America and Kennedy Information where, among other accomplishments, he developed a suite of services for investor relations professionals that included definitive reference products and the Global Investor Relations Leadership Network.
David holds a BA from Queens College and was selected by Thomson to participate in Columbia University Business School's Executive Leadership Program. David has also been a columnist for the Wall Street Journal's WSJ.com site.
John Doyle, Vice President
John Doyle is responsible for assisting Greenhaven's portfolio companies on key strategic and tactical initiatives. He is currently a Senior Product Manager at Bongarde and was previously Director of Operations at Pyramid Research as part of Greenhaven's CEO-in-Training program. John also helps Greenhaven Partners identify and evaluate future portfolio companies.
Prior to Greenhaven, he was a manager and analyst at Greenwich Associates, a research-based consulting firm specializing in financial services. John holds a BA in Economics from Colby College and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School.
Michael Bamberger, Director
Michael Bamberger is responsible for helping Greenhaven businesses adapt to and exploit new technologies. He is currently creating digital assets at Chief Executive Group and IOFM, including websites, tools and mobile applications. Michael is also helping Greenhaven create spin-off and start-up software-as-a-service (SaaS) and web-based businesses.
Michael graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in Economics.
